Why is nobody talking about mental health? 🫶🏻
On LinkedIn, it's common to showcase our successes and achievements, but it's equally important to acknowledge the moments when things aren't going so well.
Today, I experienced a significant mental breakdown, and it made me realize something important. Despite feeling fine on the surface, deep down, I was struggling with feeling stressed out without even realizing it. I didn't feel overwhelmed or under pressure until a trigger point suddenly brought all those emotions to the surface at once.
It was a wake-up call for me. Sometimes, we go about our days thinking everything is okay, only to be blindsided when something triggers us, causing all our pent-up emotions to overflow.
In my case, a seemingly insignificant event – my family eating the snack I had been looking forward to – became the catalyst for a flood of emotions I hadn't even realized I was harboring.
This experience taught me the importance of self-awareness and checking in with ourselves regularly, even when things seem to be going smoothly on the surface. It's crucial to recognize the signs of mental strain before they escalate into a full-blown breakdown.
So, I'm sharing this to remind others to pay attention to their mental well-being, even when everything seems fine. Let's normalize checking in with ourselves and seeking support when needed.
