I am writing this post because We don’t need feminism in Austria or Europe
at least according to some men.
It’s a statement I’ve heard before—often accompanied by claims that “gender equality is already achieved” or “feminism is outdated.” But let’s talk about the reality we’re living in, especially online.
In a digital world where women are hypersexualized and gender stereotypes are amplified daily, feminism is more important than ever. From online harassment to unrealistic expectations placed on women and girls, the internet has become a space where these issues thrive—making it impossible to ignore the inequality that still exists.
This isn’t just about wage gaps or leadership representation (though those remain critical issues). It’s about the messages women receive every single day, shaping how they see themselves and how society views them. It’s about the harmful content that reinforces outdated stereotypes and limits individuality.
When people say, “We don’t need feminism,” I wonder: are they seeing the same reality I am? Because feminism isn’t just about fixing obvious inequalities—it’s about challenging the subtle, systemic ones that affect how we live, work, and express ourselves.
Feminism is a tool for change, not a threat. And in a society that still holds women back in countless ways—both offline and online—it’s a tool we can’t afford to put down.
What do you think? Let’s open this conversation up.
