🎤 “Is Media a Real Job?” Some people tell me I should get a “real job” with more impact, or they act like what I do as a moderator doesn’t contribute much to society. But here’s the thing—media is one of the most powerful forces shaping the world we live in.
I moderate live events and online formats for organizations like Wirtschaftskammer Österreich LOOKAUT and let’s be honest—media plays a huge role in shaping the world.
Just take a second to think about it:
🗳️ Politics and Voting – Media is the bridge between politics and the public. Look at national elections in Austria ahead of us —so much of the outcome is driven by how they’re covered in the media. Or think back to the U.S. presidential debate between Trump and Kamala Harris. The way the media framed that debate has a direct impact on how people will vote in November.
💠Shaping Opinions – The conversations I moderate don’t just pass the time—they shape how people think and feel. We influence public opinion in ways that often go unnoticed but are incredibly powerful.
📚 Informing and Empowering – We provide people with the information they need to make decisions, to stay informed, and to feel empowered. Media professionals play a huge part in shaping those conversations, and that’s not something to take lightly.
So yes, media is a real job. And it’s one that holds more power and influence than many realize.
